On Saturday, January 3, 2026, Maricopa Police Department responded to reports of shots fired on the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway near Russell Road shortly after 7 PM. Officers found a single vehicle carrying two adults who had injuries. One adult sustained minor injuries, while the other was transported to the hospital with more serious injuries.
